LUPE DAY SPECIAL

Moonsong
By Dianacat777

Dusk settles in a silent shroud
With starlit shades cast far and low.
Clouds drift across deepening night
As moonrise casts the trees aglow.

A Lupe waits quiet, solemnly
Standing proud, but inside, alone,
Stands vigil in his self-exile,
A curse for which he must atone.

The silver orb hangs in the sky;
Golden eyes turn green and glint.
He lifts his head and parts his jaws
As moonlight frees the truth within.

Claws lengthen, sprouting dark and sharp,
Blue fur grows brown and coarse.
Disguise shorn, the Werelupe is revealed
And lifts his voice in howling hoarse.

Viridian eyes gleam from the trees;
Footsteps rustle in shadows black.
Summoned by his beck and call
Come his darkness-kin, the pack.

The full moon lights their domain free
From mystery and magic hewn.
One single night, the Werelupes gather
And howl their song to the moon.

Coltzan
By _Razcalz_

How time has shifted the dunes, and
how I've watched
as the spirit of a king,
my shadow sliding
with the motion of the sun.

Two cities, the
new to the north and the
ancient next to cliffs
long paled with tan -- from
acquaintance old, no doubt, with
a horizon of golden dusk.
And the river, its banks
dotted with palms,
winding, winding.
Always it has known best the
land and its nature,
and like a
path into light
it curves with the dunes
in perfect tandem.

To stand quiet guard over
this land so rich
in beauty and history --
to feel the desert's heartbeat,
to know that
in it lies my own.

Three Cheers for Lupe Day!
By Saqo

I may seem a little bit gruff
and perhaps over-confident, if I may.
But when you are a Lupe, it's
natural to show your pride today!

For today it is Lupe Day and
all around Neopia Lupes can
show how great we are... okay,
so that did sound a little cocky.

But it's true! We're very loyal
and good-looking, if I do say.
We stick to our friends through
thick and thin, this is our way.

We love adventures, it's what we
live for! Exploring new lands
in this big world of ours...
adventure's a Lupe's best friend!

We come in many colours, but if
you are a Lupe, no matter what
colour, you are a part of a brave
and noble pack that will help you.

We never turn our backs on a friend
and are always there until the end.
This is part of being a Lupe, a
part we can never ever forget.

So today on Lupe Day we are free
to show the world what we feel
is the best and most loyal breed
of them all... we are Lupes and proud!

Captain Scarblade
By Concertogreat_8

here is a beautiful day
heartbreak-blue sky
golden sun that shines
and a soft sweet breeze.

here are white sands
a serene pure beach
where pink hibiscus grow
and blue water ebbs and flows.

here are two children
two young lupe pups
who laugh and tumble
in the sand and waves.

here is a warning
the rustle of leaves
the shriek of a Pirakeet
from the jungle depths.

here is terrible fear
spoken in the cry of a sister
heard by her brother's ears
lost to the ocean's waves.

here is the taste of loss
and life's first scar
on a soft, soft heart
in a little pup's chest.

here is a story
not meant to be told
there was a lupe pup
here is Captain Scarblade.

A Darigan Lupe -- Celebrating Victory
By Guddi6

Stillness grasps the silent realm
And holds it, in the twilight,
The land lulled into gentle sleep,
While stars shed streams of silver, bright.
Moonlit are the sleeping plains,
The crushed grass with onyx sheen,
Moonbeams dance from side to side
And meld with shadows, darker gleam.
There, amidst the star-specked skies,
And inky shades of night,
Something stirs in seamless flow
Sifting through moonlight.
Richest violet, a blur plains
Runs swift, and wild, and free,
Comes to halt, in mid-plain
Stands tall, in victory.
Fur a regal purple shade,
Though worn, and torn,
Illuminated by silver rays, doth shine,
For the warrior, sunlight scorns.
Strong is gleam in crimson eye,
As claws doth scrape the ground,
And as veiling clouds move further apart,
The Lupe lets out a howl.
Who knows how many hardships he's faced?
How far has been this run?
Who knows if there's further to go?
But you can tell. This battle -- he's won.

Thick and Thin, the Brothers Lupe
By Mamasimios

Thick and Thin, the brothers Lupe,
A close-knit pack of two,
Stick together through everything
Like all good brothers do.

Thick, the younger of the pair,
Has been transmogrified
With bones protruding from his skin
And jaundice-yellow eyes.

He is a playful little pup,
Impulsive, bold, and callow.
He crashes through the underbrush
With a holler and a howl.

Watching closely from nearby
Is Thick's older brother, Thin,
With the curving teeth and shaggy coat
Of all Tyrannians.

Thin is a patient, quiet Lupe,
Experienced and wise,
He scents for danger on the breeze,
Observes with gentle, golden eyes.

So opposite in mien and manner
Are Thick and Thin the Lupes,
Yet they are but two sides of one coin,
A close-knit pack of two.

What Walks in the Night?
By Anjie

Nestled through the rolling hills,
Over the distant green,
Twilight faded, dusk did pass,
Horizon now not seen.
In the distance eerie call,
Night shattered by this cry.
Growling, snapping, never ends,
Great noise through shadowed sky.
On and on the haunting call,
Over the midnight scene.
Darkness dweller, sinister,
Call breaks the realm serene.

Only one could cause this chill,
Make good things seem so stark.
Evil beast, the Werelupe dwells,
So cloaked within the dark.
Forth from creature's hiding place,
Radiates such fear.
Only those who are so brave,
Meander boldly near.
Lying in the hidden realm,
Is creature born of hate.
Zephyr passes tattered coat,
A scent of evil, faint.

Roused from place the creature dwells,
Dark thoughts do bring him near
Mutated beast, the Lupe treads light,
Under night's cloak of fear.
Terrified, small Petpets flee;
They know what heads this way.
Angered creature stalks the night,
They flee, avoid his way.
In the night the Werelupe walks,
On his mission, foul.
Night is shattered, torn apart,
Split by that haunted howl.

The Story of Prisoner Five
By Yoyti

This land was not meant to be.
Or rather, not seen nor heard.
As in any case of secrets
I have heard it word for word.

Although I never saw it,
Firsthand, I hope to see it.
By my demise, should it be still there,
My soul, I want, to be it.

Of course, my word was easily dismissed,
As citizens always do so.
The Citadel was dark that night.
But I'd prove them wrong -- I thought so.

My words proved ineffective.
I was arrested on the spot.
Mad ravings, so they said my claims were.
But the fire was just getting hot.

Into a cell they threw me,
But offered me my freedom.
"A game," they said, "you have to beat."
How impossible my freedom!

Had I been not insane before,
I was most certainly then.
The warden, he could not be beat.
The game was for no men.

Insanity took clutches,
And for mercy I begged.
"Forgiveness!" screamed I, Prisoner Five.
But I could not stay alive (as much as).

Ab Urbe Condita (From the Founding of the City)
By Magicalcameron

I call to thee, O Muses,
I ask you, where do I start?
With the lone hunter bow in hand,
with his city cast in time-stopped dark?
Or do I start at the very end,
With his city gleaming high?
Of which, dear Muses, do you wish to hear?
I beseech your all-knowing minds.

Gathering twelve heroes, this Lupe hero
Founded this noble and glorious city,
And fell to the Great Betrayer;
The Sleeper -- the darkest of all faeries.
Sealed away by Jerdana's orb,
But shrouded the city in a timeless dream,
Sleeping silent for 1,000 years.

Altador,
The noble hunter fired their courage,
Igniting their wits,
Betrayed by a former ally.

All twelve immortalised as celestial monoliths,
Constellations, where they remain
In the immemorial aether. Waiting to be descried,
By those who search the a-twinkling skies.

Oh Altador, he who shoots from afar,
Who led his city in times of great peace and chaos,
Against the greatest of foes.
His benevolent heart guides his way,
His faithful friends at his side.
He deserves to be recognised,
On such a day where Lupes from far and wide
Are celebrated on high.
Cheer for the honourable king,
Our white-bearded king,
On such a day as this.
On this joyous day indeed!
Hail Altador!

Hail, Hail, the Werelupe King!
By Jjquil

Hail, hail, the Werelupe King!
All you Lupes must howl and sing!
Raise your voices, let them ring!
Glory to the Werelupe King!

Gnash your fangs! Flash your claws!
Stamp your feet! Snap your jaws!
Growl and bark! Clap your paws!
Follow all the Werelupe laws!

The Haunted Woods is our domain!
Trespass not on this terrain!
We Werelupes need not explain,
You're the base of our food chain!

We snarl and roar, for we are free!
We run all night, with moonlit glee!
The Werelupe King can guarantee
No canine will disagree!

Bare your teeth! Show your growl!
Throw back your snout! Shriek and howl!
Lash your tail! Spit and scowl!
The Werelupe horde is on the prowl!

Hail, hail, the Werelupe King!
All you Lupes must howl and sing!
Raise your voices, let them ring!
Glory to the Werelupe King!

The Valiant at Heart
By Jenny_19_21_

So proud and strong we stand,
A species far from bland.
Loyal and brave,
Our masters we will always save.
There are famous heroes, all so bold,
Whose stories are yet to be told.

Jeran of Meridell, a mighty knight,
Stopped Darigan from ending a fight.
When the land is at risk,
He is always brisk.
Throughout Meridell he is known,
As a knight who saved the throne.

The Werelupe King, treacherous and ruthless,
Whose followers he does bless.
Those who oppose are mercilessly fought,
For power is what the king always sought.
The Sage, his advisor,
Always said the king was the wiser.

Among the dense fog,
Of Haunted Woods' bog,
Prowls the Ghost Lupe.
On enemies he does swoop,
Scaring them away,
Into night and day.

So you see,
Valiant Lupes are the key.
They were the key to the past,
And will always last!
We are proud and strong we stand,
A species known throughout the land...

Chia Hunt
By Phadalusfish

"Chia!" I shouted at the charming Zafara.
She smiled, a sly, devious, charming smile,
And disappeared in a puff of blue smoke.

I looked around, confounded:
I thought she was supposed to help me
Find all things Chia in all of Neopia!

I stood, staring at the spot where she vanished.
"Come back!" I cried. "Please?"
"I just want to start a gallery!" I explained.

"You," she said pointedly
When she reappeared, "are a Lupe.
What good can you possibly want with Chias?"

"A gallery!" I pleaded my case again,
But, of course, she didn't believe me.
She looked at me with stern eyes, charming smile.

"I'll make you a bargain," she offered.
"I'll make you a list of all the Chia things,"
She grinned slyly, "that are common."

"Common?" I wailed. "But I need the rarest ones!"
She shook her head sadly,
And I knew she wouldn't budge.

"All right," I sighed.
"I guess I'll start there."
And she procured the list.

Chia. Chia the Chia. Chia. War Chia Top.
Blue, Yellow, Red, and Green Chia Plushies.
Chia Book. Chocolate Chia. White Chocolate!

I took the list from her and turned away,
The possibilities swirling through my mind.
My Chia Hunt was all set to begin!

The Lupe Collector
By Kitokat_mh

As Lupe Day comes around,
Lupes must heed this stern advice,
No longer can they roam the land
Without paying a dreadful price.

For in the shadows there does lurk
A demon hiding in the trees,
Hunting for unknowing prey,
He gives no time for cries or pleas.

Invisible and silent he hides
And swoops down without a sound.
Plucking Lupes from where they stand;
He's determined that they'll all be found.

No one knows where it began,
But it is known the threat is real.
Lupes have vanished from the spot,
Silently without a squeal.

Lupe Day is darkened every year,
And the air is thick and tense,
As security must be increased
To avoid a great expense.

So heed this warning, every Lupe,
And this Lupe Day, please watch out,
Because this year, like every year,
The Lupe Collector is about!

Conversation with the Ghost Lupe
By Agedbeauty

Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growls,
"Don't go to Mystery Island!"

Oh, why not, Ghost Lupe?
I have an itch to go.
Tombola calls with Toenail Soup,
So I really have to know.

Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growls,
"Did you know that
Mystery Island is haunted?"

Haunted is an awful scare;
It sounds an awful fright.
What if by day I went there
And avoided it at night?

Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growls,
"It's rumoured that Neopets that go
to Mystery Island never return!"

Ghost Lupe, how you scare us so;
My Eyrie's frightened to his core.
He had really hoped to go
On a cutesy Tiki tour.

Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growls,
"BEWARE!!!"

Well now, Ghost Lupe,
There's no need to be so dire!
I am sure that as a group
Our little trip won't backfire.

Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growls,
"Begone! Leave this page!"

Really, Ghost Lupe, why so inexplicit?
What threats could await us on the Isle?
Our goals are legal, not illicit,
And it's a sojourn, not an exile!

Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growls,
"My, what tasty Neopets you have!"

Well now, Ghost Lupe, that's a threat!
And one I don't appreciate.
While nothing bad has happened yet,
I'll leave before you become irate.

Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growls,
and suddenly all your Neopets
are healed back to max hit points!

Perhaps, dear ghost,
your heart is in the right place.
I'll heed your warning, avoid the coast,
And cede this argument with grace.

Robot Lupe (The Lab Rat)
By Mayfloziarea

A robot Lupe stands strongly poised,
Features hard and bold.
Unwavering gaze with emerald eyes,
Turned up to skies of gold.
To faerie Lupes who ride the clouds,
To blue Lupes who grace the field.
To pirate Lupes who brave the seas,
And ice Lupes who brave the hail.

And through his metallic form,
A longing starts to spread,
To be carefree just like them
And not confined to the lab.
Robots are not all that bad,
He mused with hopeful thought.
But, alas, this was not how they felt;
New colours were constantly sought.

(They thought that robots cannot feel,
So robot Lupes cannot feel too.
What more with their fearsome stance,
And eyes that burn holes into you.
But then again, it is just a colour --
What else will it change?
Will he lose anything in him?
No -- he will remain the same.)

And thus because of this one thought,
He was continually zapped.
For many months now has he been,
Their one and only lab rat.
So now today, he will be zapped
By the ray once again.
Will he change colour today?
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps...

Fire Lupe
By Autotune

sometimes, when the night
feels like being
long and cold
like maybe this night feels like being,
we start a fire.

(in the dark, red and orange and gold)

sometimes, this fire --
this friend of ours --
isn't there, and we light
candles and strike
matches and

(still the night is even colder)

but usually, he's there.
we know him
and he knows fire
as well as fire knows him --
he knows red and orange and gold

(he takes away the long and cold)

but how bright
can the night be?
with him we do not know
shadows,
only light.

Cassile, the Lupe Surfer
By Kuroge

Down the stream,
down the waterfall,
higher and higher she jumps,
as she let out a wild call.

In the warm spring air,
she breezes by,
abiding by her instincts,
she leaps into the sky.

Her masterful skills
are comparable to art;,
surfing on the water,
is truly in her heart.

Braving any danger
through any course,
she charges through the water
with infinite force.

Her tireless spirit
is worthy of praise;
to any observer,
she would surely amaze.

The Werelupe's Night
By Chax1414

Walking in the glimmering moonlight,
nobody could see, nobody to fright.
It made him feel better when nobody screamed,
as the Werelupe felt pity and grief.

He had no friends, nobody to talk to,
excluding the huge, bright yellow moon.
In the sky it came every night,
excluding one day, giving him a fright.

An eclipse was occuring, very rare indeed,
causing the moon to not come out for a peek.
The Werelupe waited long for it to show,
desiring its deep pale glow.

His only friend had abandoned him too,
leaving him to wonder who to trust... who?
A rustling behind him made him look,
to find another Werelupe by a brook.

From then on, they both had friends,
one to talk to and share previous amends.
Finally, a happy ending to a sad tale,
hoping their friendship never goes stale.

The Lupes Who Liked Jelly a Little Too Much
By Beagums

There once were two Lupes who liked jelly a lot,
Whether fresh out the fridge or served nice and hot.
They ate it for breakfast, they ate it for tea,
They ate it wherever jelly could be.

One Lupe liked lemon, the other liked lime,
But both thought the raspberry-chocolate sublime.
Their cabinets were filled with jelly galore,
And out in the pantry they had even more!

They ate it so often the neighbours complained,
Surely such habits will leave our plates stained!
These Lupes are a menace, it just isn't right
To feast upon jelly all day and all night.

Then out from the crowd came a young Chia lass,
Who held up her hands to silence the sass,
And asked them a question no one could ignore,
"I've finished my jelly; may I have some more?"

Jelly was passed from table to table,
Feasted upon by whoever was able.
Some liked it a lot, but not all found it sweet.
The young Chia found questions a far better treat.

Do all Lupes like jelly as much as these two?
Content on a diet of sugar and goo?
Or are there perhaps all different sorts?
Some who like carrots? Some who like tortes?

Is that why we celebrate, cheer, and hooray?
Because all Lupes are set in their own special way?
There are some who like jelly, and some who do not,
But all think the festivities of Lupe Day are hot!

So gather your friends and your neighbours; rejoice!
Or simply ignore it, for you have that choice.
Whatever the case, Lupes of all kind will play,
For that is the reason we celebrate Lupe Day.

Iced Chocolate Lupe Cake
By Tiptoeboo

With a flourish the oven is turned on, Hands washed, missing utensils found,
Ingredients set down on the bench.
With a white hat, the chef is crowned.

A puff of flour and a smatter of salt,
Beaten with butter, a sprinkle of faerie dust,
Stirred in cocoa and chocolate chips,
Baked 20 minutes for the perfect crust.

Vanilla icing on top once the cake is cool,
A perfect sweet, pure floral flavour,
Soft and gentle, a caress of taste bud love,
Together form a delicious cake to savour.

Finally the candles for the special Lupe touch,
Yellow wax, melted and poured to mould
Chia shape, a round body with a bright wig
Aflame with light. Best eaten ice cold.

Served with presents galore, Lupe treats,
A cracker, toys, and the best of friends
Combined together (apart from Chias, of course)
Make a Lupe Day all hope will never end.
