New Years in Darigan Citadel
By Autotune

a new year is born
as the old one dies;
on Darigan's tallest spire
we stand together,
waiting for Celebrating to fade
and shrivel and wane
into silent ashes.

tonight the wind blows cold,
exceptionally so;
from up here our land
appears as always,
bleak and barren
in the harsh light
of an unforgiving moon.

but tonight a new year
shall rise, brilliant,
and the moon shall slip
off its precipice;
we'll stand together,
as fireworks scatter in the sky
and light up our twisted towers.

Apple Bobbing
By Jayo289

Ladies and Gentlemen, I welcome you 'ere,
So gather 'round and lend us your ear.
My name is Vandebart, Bart for short,
Now quiet down, be a good sport.

Today I've something special for you,
It's no lie; my words are true.
Take a look inside my stall,
Bob for an apple, have a ball.

Now, I realise that Halloween's done,
But that don't mean the end of our fun.
Come along and dip in your head,
Pick out something that's shiny and red.

Step in close; I've a secret to tell,
Not just apples, there's more stuff as well.
If you're lucky, you'll win a great prize,
That's my hint, my word to the wise.

But whatever falls in is mine to keep,
Your items or money in the watery deep.
So don't bend down too far to bite,
Else your belongings take a vertical plight.

Sink your teeth into this beautiful fruit,
Almost as handsome as me in my suit.
Just one thing more to say, I'll keep it concise:
Keep away from my hat or pay the ultimate price.

Let's Fight, My Friend
By Mstaylorlautner

I tell you now, when times seem stark,
We'll find the light to right this dark.
Shadows creep upon our lands;
Their fearful presence you must withstand.

Though the future may seem grim,
I say to you, friend: let's sink or swim.
The call to fight has been raised,
So join me now as I enter the fray.

Hanso and Brynn have joined the cause
To protect Neopia from Xandra's paws.
King Altador and Jazan as well
Won't stop until evil is expelled.

But I fear they can't do it alone,
So let's help to protect our home.
Many challenges we will brave,
In the effort to make Neopia safe.

The innocent we must defend,
Come on, I say, let's fight, my friend.

The Day of Giving and the Night of Taking
By Mamasimios

'Twas the night before the Day of Giving
(What blather that word -- 'twas)
When I, Dr. Sloth, lay awake in my bed
With visions of domination playing in my head.
Space Station halls, usually quiet and sterile,
Were filled with Grundos and their endless carols.
As I lay with my pillow pressed tight to my ears,
I had the most wonderful, evil idea.
Once those dimwit Grundos retired for the night
I left my room, entered the hallway's dim gloom,
And headed for the Supply Deck's green lights.
Once there, I decided, if the day was for giving
Then someone would need to be taking.
And that's what I did.
I took all their presents, wrapped up in bows,
And I took all their hand-knitted holiday clothes.
I took all the food for their traditional feast;
All the Cosmic Broccoli, all the Crown Roast Beef.
I took all the ornaments; the garland, the balls,
And even their tree, dragging it down the hall.
When my own room was stuffed to near overflowing
That's when the Grundos awoke, still unknowing.
I smiled to myself and stood by the door,
Waiting to hear the Grundos' uproar.
How delighted I was to have them awaken
And find that the Day of Giving had been taken!
And that's what they did.
And still did they gather and begin to sing
Despite the fact they had lost everything.
And then did I soften? Not in the least!
Why should I return the gifts or the feast?
The writers can pen their saccharine stories
And their maudlin, mawkish rhymes.
They can write of fictional transformations
And save them for the Neopian Times.
But I am Sloth. And I am real.
And one day I will bring Neopia to heel.
What matters this midnight burglary
When one day the whole world will belong to me?
I decided to open the presents, to see what I got,
What might be there to aid in my plot.
And that's what I did.

Xandra's Dream
By Cookybananas324

All I want
Is a glorious reign
Free from faeries
Who're naught but bane.

Is that too much to ask?

Neopets united
Under my rule
Untroubled by
Those flittering fools.

Is that too much to ask?

I'm better than them!
I'm stronger, too.
I'm fit to rule --
You'll see, it's true!

Benevolent queen
Over all the land,
I'll crush all foes
With powers grand.

I tore Faerieland
Right out of the sky.
No longer will
Those tyrants fly!

Soon Neopia will see
That my way is best.
They'll adore me for it;
I won't accept less.

Is that too much to ask?
