The Forgotten Citadel
By Torkie10

Looking out across this scene,
I remember a time long past
A time when the grass was green,
A time we thought would last...

Back when time was new,
When we danced with stars;
I used to dance with you,
Back before the scars.

Now time has passed,
And gone is the laughter.
I saw you again at last,
But then you left forever after.

The trees were burned,
The buildings smashed;
The earth was turned,
and all hope was dashed.

Who knows of this forgotten Citadel?
Who now remembers a land with life?
Now the tales only tell
The stories of our strife.

Aggressive Casserole
By Dustowl

Dear Aggressive Casserole,
I mean no disrespect;
I speak to you in agony,
And a taste I can't neglect.

I saw you in the window,
Growling through your gritted smile.
It was then that I did realise
I had not eaten in a while.

You may not be appealing,
Not some ordinary food,
But orangish goop on murky brown
Fits my exotic hunger mood.

I want so much to eat you,
More than dear Esophagor,
So please, Aggressive Casserole,
I refuse to beg anymore.

All right, all right, I understand,
My nagging's taken its toll.
I'll just go back home to Altador now,
Goodbye, dear Aggressive Casse--

CHOMP!

Ode to a Mysterious Lever
By Shoyruaisha

You've wormed your way inside my brain.
Oh temptress! You're a curse.
So powerful, magnificent.
Temptation? Nothing worse.

You're intriguing, and you tease me.
Why stand-offish, why so coy?
You must be hiding treasure.
Is the warning just a ploy?

You clearly tell me "DO NOT PULL,"
But why the rude facade?
You're not warning me of danger,
You are nothing but a fraud!

It's apparent that you're not
Of any threat to me.
What one can win for giving in
Will soon be clear to see!

Machinery hums, gears turn inside,
A slowly op'ning door...
Here appears a metal hand!
But it knocks me to the floor.

Now you've stolen both my gold and heart.
You win. You are the star.
But I won't be too downtrodden,
For I've won an avatar.

News Flash!
By Mstaylorlautner

Writings scribbled upon a page,
Dance before your eyes.
Comic pictures and new stories;
And pages of advice.

The
Neopian Times
Out to brighten my day.
Each week holds new treasures
To put on display.

Neopians of old,
Who cares if you're new?
Come write us a story.
Perhaps, an article or two.

Now starting a series,
Eagerly awaiting release.
On Friday I'm free,
My worries now cease.

Inspired by tales,
With tips in my mind.
I steady my keyboard,
And let the words fly.

Refreshing, refreshing,
Searching in vain
For mail from TNT,
With my results contained.

Oh,
Neopian Times, How I love thee,
Just one final question:
Why do you never pick me?

The Land Beneath the Waves
By Uberdancingdolphin

Land long lost,
Waves of water stretch,
Across the horizon,
Billowing like sheets.

Sink down,
Light refracts on crystal water,
The current sways you back and forth,
The world above disappears.

A Peophin, a Flotsam,
Swirl by as you float gently,
Leaving a curtain of bubbles,
That rise quickly out of sight.

The light from above has all but faded,
It has grown darker in the mirk,
Still you sink down deeper,
You have not reached the place you seek.

Below a light begins to glimmer,
Like the moon on a clear night,
Revealing the land of Maraqua,
Busy as ever beneath the sea.

Houses built of stunning coral,
Rise up from the ocean floor,
Right before your very eyes,
Underwater beauty unfolds.

But you are not a fish,
Or creature of the deep,
This is not your world,
You must rise again.

The image still held firmly
In your mind,
You let the waves,
Carry you up, up, and away.

Maraqua is gone from sight.
