With Finish Line in Sight
By _Razcalz_

An
Usul
skiing
down the
final stretch
of the course,
flurries of white
clinging to blizzard
-swept fur. Her goggles
tinted with breath, gloves
gripping the frosted poles --
tension easing away with every
passing metre on those twin, thin,
moisture-veiled skis. From where the
crowd stands applauding, 'tis as if double
pencil-beam paths have shadowed the Usul
skier all the way to this glorious white ribbon.

A.K.A. AAA
By Mamasimios

The Blumaroo Aristotle A. Avinroo,
A.k.a AAA, or the Games Master to you,
Routinely appears to challenge Neopia
With the aid of thick glasses to combat myopia.

One lens is blue and the other is red;
Tape affixed in the middle, they sit on his head.
Also sporting a headset with a microphone --
Don't assume that he's cheating; he is quite alone.

Surfacing sometimes from his parents' cellar,
His complexion is sallow, unhealthy, and yellow.
He emerges to challenge with a Daily Dare,
While he smirks from his perch on his hover chair.

With hands firmly gripping his twin green joysticks,
The Games Master's focus is steady and fixed. His IQ is immeasurable and his senses acute,
His arms not constrained in his roomy tracksuit.

The games are selected by the Master himself,
Who cloaks them in puzzles for you to work out.
And if you complain that gives him the advantage,
AAA smugly smiles from his hovering vantage.

But if you succeed, then a trophy you'll win!
The highest level looking like a grinning twin
Of that Blumaroo Aristotle A. Avinroo,
A.k.a. AAA, or the Games Master to you.

Anticipating the Advent
By Meggierules2129

The colder it gets, the more enthusiastic,
The closer it comes, the more fantastic!
Only in Celebrating do we decide,
The Advent Calendar should arrive.

Yes, the first of the month is the busiest day;
Thousands of Neopets come to collect their pay.
What will it be? A toy, a Petpet, an avatar?
Decorated with ribbon, sparkles, or stars?

Anticipation buzzes around Happy Valley.
No time for idling, no time to dilly-dally.
Grab your new prize and admire the animation;
Thrive in the excitement and the holiday sensation!

I smile at the Neopets, having so much fun.
To their delight, the fun's just begun!

Atlas of the Ancients - Chapters 6 & 7
By Chimp_chicken_fish

6.

The company arrives at their destination,
Although to a very unnerving sight.
Terror Mountain's ice is melting,
This global warming increases their plight.
Carefully edging around the mountain,
Gingerly so that they won't fall.
Clara slips and almost takes a plunge!
Roxton saves her at her call.
Relieved yet exhaused they set up camp,
Resting the night once more.
A meteor wakes Miss Chatham up,
She pursues it to discover a Moltenore.
Roxton awakes to seek Clara out
And looks at the curious critter.
A pretty purple flower it picked;
It's no coincidence, Roxton is bitter.
Sleepily the company continue their quest,
As the snow continues to melt.
Our heroes ponder this unusual mess
And use the tome as their guiding help.

7.

Consulting the tome for clues within,
Clara states there's a "crystal solution".
Jordie misinterprets that as a slushie drink
"They're referring to the Heart of the Mountain,"
Roxton laughs in spite of him.
Clara agrees, "I'd say it's worth looking into."
Not that they have a choice other than to.
The markings on the wall mean they're getting close
And they find a trumpet trapped in ice.
Everything is quiet like a hidden ghost,
Until Jordie blows the instrument foolishly --
An avalanche! Run for your life!
Clara cries, "Quick, up the tree!"
Saved by quick-thinking, they wait for snow to pass,
Onto the next stage to uncover the past.

Beware of the Shadow Usul!
By Pansyparkinson14

Eyes that glow with a feverish light,
Eyes that glare at you in the night,
Eyes that challenge you to a fight,
These are the eyes of the Shadow Usul!

Fur that is the blackest of ink,
Fur that makes your bravery sink,
Fur that makes you, in fear, shrink,
'Tis the fur of the Shadow Usul!

Teeth as sharp as a lethal blade,
Teeth that make anyone evade,
Teeth that make Neopets scream for aid,
These are the teeth of the Shadow Usul!

Movements as swift as the fastest thief,
Movements that are both deft and brief,
Movements that will cause you grief,
These are the movements of the Shadow Usul!

Swift and pervading in the moonlight,
She menaces and steals and seeks to fright,
Will she be stalking you tonight?
Beware of the Shadow Usul!
