She loves to create
And experiment with
Many potions and vials
Full of colours and bubbles. She
Pushes her black starry hat to one side as
She throws one single drop into her magical
Cauldron (Any more would cause an explosion).
She narrows her blue sapphire eyes and waits for
A certain reaction. Then it begins to bubble slowly.
Perfect. She places the vial onto her shelf and grabs
A golden concoction with her gentle orange hooves.
Smiling, she mixes the thick purple liquid and drops
The golden vial in. The mixture starts to bubble
Vigorously. She dives behind the table as the
Swirl of lilac and gold foams over the edge
Of the steel-black cauldron. This would
Be our darling Kauvara.
I want to let you know, Maintenance Pteri
That I think you're as kind as the Fountain Faerie.
You keep us from site errors, when we're not merry,
And you CERTAINLY wouldn't be let in the library.
You're loud and obnoxious, I'll admit at the start
But I can tell that within you have such a kind heart.
You keep us and the 404s well and apart,
Although so many people wish you would depart.
You give us some games to let us waste time
Waiting for Neo to come up, it's far from sublime.
But you do that without pay, not even a dime
And you alert us when Neo is back to its prime.
I must admit, I like you, though others may not,
Our saviour if Neo's down, yet others have forgot
You're the one behind ensuring each error is caught,
And so we're all grateful for you. A LOT.
Hope at the Pound
Consider, if you will, the Pound.
A place to curl up and wait around,
For all the pets whose time is through,
Now moving on to pastures new.
A lonely place, I have to suppose,
Where, stripped of collars, bells, and bows,
Each pet in turn must wait its chance,
For someone to give a second glance.
Those lucky few, all painted bright,
Find new homes almost overnight.
While others, plainer than the rest,
Just smile and try to look their best.
One Grarrl (plain red) saw a future bleak,
He'd been waiting there for a full week.
'Til someone took him for a trip one day,
Off to visit the Secret Laboratory's ray.
The very next night, and back he was,
But this time painted blue with stars.
In no time at all he had a new home,
From which he'd never further roam.
But what of those not fortune blessed?
Will a plain pet love you any less?
Of course not, never, the opposite is true,
They'll be gladder to find a home with you.
So, if you've room for just one more pet,
Down to the Pound's where you should get.
Where paint isn't how love is measured,
And even the plainest pet can be treasured.
Merry Go Round
Up and down the Unis bob
To their own fanciful beat.
Mane and tail with silver sheen
Aglow in summer's heat.
"Roll up, roll up!" the bright Roo cries,
A-beckoning to all.
"Cheer up, don't frown, you Blumaroos,
And listen to my call!"
He sings about his fairground ride:
"Merry Go Round goes round and round
The Unis go round and round!"
A cloud Uni passes by,
Its coat a starlit hue.
Green Uni follows close behind,
With floating, drifting hooves.
Uni of shadow sneaks around,
While pink and yellow prance and bound.
Take a trip to the Island of Roos
And cheer as the Blumaroo sings:
"Merry Go Round goes round and round
The Unis go round the ring!"
Onyx midnight casts its shroud,
Upon the realm below.
Buildings shine in pallid light,
Touched by a moonbeam's glow.
One store alone is all lit up,
By candle's softest gleam.
Within the magic shop's four walls,
Kauvara reigns supreme.
Fevered sheen in Kau's wide eyes,
Her cauldron bubbles near.
Potions can go wrong, it's true,
And yet she'll persevere.
Starry Kau coat glimmers, soft,
So vibrant each gold star.
Patterns scattered on her form,
So random, so bizarre.
With a motion of one hoof,
She'll stir the bubbling brew.
Magic guides her movements here,
Instructs her what to do.
With a flourish does she chant,
A morphing potion's born!
Billowing, the cobalt smoke,
That traces near each horn.
Wizard's gift dwells in her mind,
Her magic secrets kept.
The reasons she brews potions here,
While others are inept.
None but her hold talent rare,
For no one knows just how
The magic of this world is kept
By one small starry Kau.
