The Shenkuu Fireworks
By Soaringeagle25

Sun sets leaving the night dark.
Neopians gather, bated breath
For the first, though small spark
Marking the start, and day's death.

The finest fireworks in the land
Are Shenkuu's, without a doubt.
Pets gather and watch from the sand,
Watching the sky, keeping lookout.

Lo! The screech of the first arises,
Leaving a trail of tendril smoke grey.
All is quiet, waiting for the surprises --
The first of the fireworks is on its way!

Then an explosion of flashing colour,
Fountains of fire, colour, and light.
Gasping and talking amongst each other,
The pets converse on this beautiful sight.

Here comes the grand finale!
Fireworks rain in patterns, the very best.
All summer have they waited for this rally,
Where Shenkuu fireworks outshine the rest.

As soon as it starts, the fireworks are over.
The beautiful show is fixed in their minds
As they gather their blankets from the sandy clover.
Shenkuu fireworks always spellbind!

The Hatching
By Brilliance109p

I settled down to breakfast,
And to my great surprise,
'Twas not a normal egg I found,
For it was made of ice.

A cyan hue the egg did bear,
I watched it, still and wry,
Entranced in vision, true finesse,
And that did catch my eye.

For this extraordinary thing,
Indeed (for my deciding),
Was holding deep within its shell
A creature, softly hiding!

O splendour, fine, o beautiful,
Which egg can dare compare
To this superiority,
Like ice on glacier?

I watched with heart a-beating quick,
My breath held silent in,
And then I heard a cracking sound,
And made from deep within.

A crevasse like a running brook
Upon the egg did go,
A Draik popped out with frosted wings,
It beamed and said, "Hello!"

The Kyrii Dancer
By Geneames1

All eyes watch her as she moves,
Swaying to her rhythmic grooves,
Sweeping low and spinning 'round,
Splendid Kyrii Dancer.

Moving to harmonious sounds,
Sprightly hops and lightly bounds,
Leaping like a Peophin,
Graceful Kyrii Dancer.

Lets the music carry her,
Limbs as light as gossamer,
Spirit soaring far away,
Charming Kyrii Dancer.

When she wakes up she will find
It all took place within her mind.
Hopes her dreams will soon come true,
Wistful Kyrii Dancer.

Tubular Kiko Racing
By Anjie

Inflated sphere so brightly toned,
It waits near large lake's shore.
Rope tethers it so firm in place,
Against the water's roar.

A cherished pastime known to all
Who dwell near Kiko Lake.
For Kavi it's a thrill,
The perfect midday break!

A count to three and off we go,
The rapids twist and churn.
Kiko safe in inner tube,
Around each bend and turn.

Kavi flips her fins around,
The wild waves do they brush.
With giggles as the tube does race,
Against the lake's own rush.

It's such a rapid, wild ride,
And danger dwells ahead!
Is this why all Kiko folk,
Are bandaged on the head?

Steering clear of whirlpool traps
And arrows shot from shore.
Keeping Kavi safe
Is how this game will score!

The tiny tube bumps left and right,
Avoids each jutting rock.
Somehow they must steer on past,
It's victory they block!

Like a flash of red and white,
The tube does soar on past,
Kavi held within,
And both are racing fast!

Ixi Raider
By Tamia_silverwing

Six hooves are better than four, they say,
And none should know it more
Than the Ixi Raider of Meridell,
A fragment of whispered lore.

They say he moves without a sound,
A spirit of the woods,
But if he traps you, poetry
Will do you little good.

It's one thing to tell stories and
Another to sing songs,
Yet face a pet with nought to lose,
And you will find you're wrong.

He is no forest guardian,
For truth he does not care,
And nothing in his hardened heart
Can make him do what's fair.

There is no home, no family,
The Raider can protect,
He looks out only for himself,
His thieving goes unchecked.

He rarely thinks of consequence,
He spares no thought for those
Who cross his path unthinkingly,
His victims are his foes.

He's skilled at what he does, for sure,
He's trained both brains and brawn,
Before most notice they've been caught,
Their valuables are gone.

To glorify him is unwise,
They say it's what he hates,
Why, if you were to write poems of him,
you'd be an easy--

Wait.
