SHOYRU DAY SPECIAL

Sighting
By Larkspurlane

First comes the cloudburst:
The low skies press, heavy and grey,
Almost meeting the seascape's white crests.
A crack of thunder, and the sky-fed streams
Pour, and two waters, salty and sweet,
Mingle, sea-flood and rain.

Now lighting flashes, the scene
Is caught in a white flicker,
And there between two waves,
A sleek carapace,
Bejewelled with a few barnacles,
Surfaces and shines
Amidst the white waves:
A navigator through the soaking gloom
When night and storm
Make blindness,
When the sky seems to be
Falling into the sea.

Guardian of the Glade
By Anjie

When war did tear the realm in two,
When malice tinged the scene.
One place alone within jade hills
Remained safe and serene.
Asunder Meridell was ripped,
Yet glade remained at peace.
A sanctuary of mossy green,
Where war and fear did cease.

The magic of a lady fair
Did not protect this place.
Nor spells, enchantments, or mere luck
Could save Illusen's base.
One warrior so swathed in green,
A quiver on his back.
Guarded glade awash with green
And halted each attack.

The Shoyru archer, never caught,
As rapid as the breeze.
A silent threat, the arrow flung,
Forth from the ancient trees.
Before the enemy could glimpse,
He vanishes once more.
The glade protects him, closing in,
It's silent, still, once more.

The Desert Guardians
By Precious_katuch14

Shoyrus patrolling the desert dunes
(Never mentioned in these old runes!)
With headdresses striped gold and blue,
Who are they? I have no clue!

They are called the Desert Guardians.
Each carries a scimitar, not a lance.
Beady eyes survey the sands
Of these lesser-known lands.

Zombies and skeletons are their company,
Along with Kyrii templars so ghastly.
Whom do these mysterious Shoyrus serve?
Why do they possess such bravery and nerve?

They attack first, ask questions later,
Fallen foes thought they were greater.
But who can stand up to the Guardians?
(I swear, that's a scimitar, not a lance.)

"To us, Ghastly Templars, with your swords!
To us, Decrepit Mummies, we're your lords!
To us, Desert Watchers and every monster,
Together we shall fight, come closer, faster!"

Shoyrus patrolling the desert dunes
(Never mentioned in these old runes!)
With headdresses striped gold and blue,
Who are they? I have no clue!

"Actually, they're the Desert Guardians.
They and their scimitars weave a deadly dance.
But I assure you, sir, we can take them,"
Says mage and healer Velm.

Gilded blades at the ready, the Shoyrus stand tall.
For their upcoming battle, they'll give their all
As they face magicians, warrior and archer.
Say the Guardians, "You won't go any farther!"

And if you think the battle is already done,
Think again; it has just begun.
The Desert Guardians may prevail,
But then again, they could also fail.

Shoyru, Fly
By Reggieman721

Shoyru, sing. Shoyru, fly.
Find your dreams up in the sky.
Look out there with big blue eyes.
Your goals can never be too high.

Shoyru, dance. Shoyru, smile.
Enjoy yourself once in a while.
The days march on in single file,
So make them worth it; just go wild.

Shoyru, learn. Shoyru, grow.
There's so much out there you don't know.
Explore Neopia, tip to toe.
There is nowhere you can't go.

Shoyru, live. Shoyru, love.
A chance to have what I dreamed of,
When I was young, when push was shove.
From my dark past, you'll rise above.

Shoyru, go. Shoyru, leave.
My time with you must end this eve.
Fly far from home, and I believe
There's nothing that you can't achieve.

Shoyru, sing. Shoyru, fly.
Find your dreams up in the sky.
Look out there with big blue eyes.
Your goals can never be too high.

Shoyru of Fabric
By _Razcalz_

Sitting on a wooden shelf,
A Shoyru patched with blue.
Of fabric was this Shoyru made,
With wings of yellow hue.
And by the shelf, a window stands,
Revealing tranquil sky.
Other Shoyrus seen outside,
Around the clouds they fly.

Little plushie's cute, of course,
Or so the others say.
They hug him and they carry him,
This stuffing hardly weighs.
Yet no one knows what he truly wants,
For plushies speak to none.
Wistfully, the Shoyru stares,
Flying sure looks fun.

Wings of fabric cannot lift
Even such weightless toy.
This plushie wishes he could soar;
Flight is what he can't enjoy.
From his high shelf, he glances out
Through largest window frame.
Perching on a dusty stand
Just doesn't feel the same.

To the Coffee Shopkeeper
By Rosabellk

Coffee shopkeeper, you brighten my day;
Your beverages cannot be beat.
When I enter your shop, I adore the bouquet
Of aromas so pleasant and sweet.
When I'm down, you can cheer me by bringing a cup
Of my favourite coffee delight:
A fresh Weevil Coffee to brighten me up,
And a Tigersquash Cake for a bite.
Your warm, caring smile and rosy red cheeks
And that apron that you always wear
Are exactly what make you so very unique.
No other shopkeepers compare.
Your shop, in the Catacombs, serves as a beacon
To those who are arty and hip.
When I taste your coffee, my knees always weaken,
From the first to the very last sip.
And so, yellow Shoyru, I pleadingly ask
That you carry on just in this way.
You have so much love for, and joy in, your task
Of serving me coffee each day.

A Sky Dreamt
By Buds_and_authors

The branches of the trees,
That seem to reach toward the sky,
Enchant her large eyes,
And she dreams of flying,
Up, up to them,
And drifting through the leaves.

Her heart is wild,
And she is pure,
Her wings are a soft yellow,
And she wishes to stretch them,
Raising them up to the sky.

To some, the sky is empty,
A void full of nothing,
But it is not a void,
Not a "vacuum of space,"
It is a beautiful thing,
Living and breathing,
Twisting and spiralling toward,
The unknown.

And it is the unknown that we fear,
As this little Shoyru knows,
But she is not afraid,
Of that great big "void,"
She is not frightened of disappearing,
Into that parallel world,
Perhaps never to be seen again.

And she spreads her wings,
Flying up into the night sky,
Her hand grazing the leaves,
Of that tree that she dreamed about,
So long ago.

Bubbles of Air
By Iloenchen

Down
at the bottom of
the Maraquan Sea lives Kelby,
the Shoyru who likes to explore with
his JubJub friends. He can navigate easily
in the water, twist and do somersaults in the
wet element. But the JubJubs cannot swim as
well as he does, and so he has to help them to
reach the ground safely. He opens his mouth
and bubbles of air rise up. Up they go and
catch the JubJubs, then they sink again.
Up and down, protecting Kelby's
JubJub friends from rocks
and guiding them
to safety.

Shoyru's Song
By Toujoursetajamais

Upon the wintry mountain-top,
A shy, lone Shoyru stands.
He looks from side to side
While surveying all the land.

His purpose is not known to all
As he gazes through the falling snow.
Right now it is so quiet there
But soon they all will know.

As one small snowflake falls to rest
Upon the Shoyru's wing,
A smile creeps up upon his face
And he begins to sing.

Of what sweet things did he there sing?
Why he sang of Neopia far and wide --
Roo Island, space stations in the sky,
An isle of crooks, Maraquan's rolling ocean's tide.

"Neopia, a place so diverse," he sings,
"Each creature is a special pet,
With their own faults, skills, and desires;
Each one a joy to have met."

The small, lone Shoyru then took to flight,
To show Neopets that they are all the best.
Soaring high, young Shoyru sang,
The sweet praise of Neopia echoing from his chest.
