TONU DAY SPECIAL

I Glimpsed a Tonu...
By Anjie

A glimpse of rose on frosted white,
A coral tone that glimmered bright.
Translucent sheathes like silk did lay,
And in the singing breeze would sway.
I glanced at her for a second, though,
A sight I won't forget, I know.

Not sullied by the earth below,
Her wings like tinted glass, aglow.
Awash with sheen, and aqua-lined,
The glittered patterns all entwined.
Each wind did catch a satin strand,
Of mane within its wispy hand.

Never had I seen this sight,
Until I witnessed Tonu's flight.
The colours took one's breath away,
As dreaming, on the cloud she lay.
The sunlit beams reflected, soft,
Upon that horn, cobalt, aloft.

For I had wrongly always said
That Tonu heavily did tread.
Mistake was made, the error mine,
When I saw Tonu's wings, divine.
My mind is changed, I can't deny,
By stunning Tonu in the sky.

The Tonu Desert Strider
By Iloenchen

The sun rises behind the obelisk,
Bathes the Lost Desert in red,
Blinds the veiled rider
And reflects off the Tonu's head.

"Faster, we need to hurry,"
Remnok says, and he knows
The Tonu he rides on is fastest;
No one could ever get close.

The Tonu Desert Strider speeds up,
Sand whirls up behind the pair.
They will reach Sakhmet in time;
There is no reason to despair.

Ancient weapons they have found
Buried in the desert sand.
The older they are, the higher the price,
The more they are in demand.

"We've nearly arrived,"
The Tonu rasps,
"Soon we'll see the city."
His voice is hoarse as he gasps.

Remnok smiles behind his veil;
He knew that he could rely on
His Tonu friend to bring him home
Safe and exactly at dawn.

Hugo Fairweather
By Larkspurlane

He excels in knowledge esoteric (some would say
Useless), he specialises in archaeology and lore,
Great sagas, linguistics, times long past, and
Old tales half-remembered.

Fierce concentration,
Acute mental powers, and a pliable
Intelligence have allowed him to translate the
Runes of an ancient journal,
Whose cryptic writings confirmed the
Existence of a mythical Isle,
A place no one believed in -- and a place
That many still consider the fabrication of a
Half-crazy old Professor. Their
Eyes are closed to the truth -- for I,
Roxton, have seen it -- the Isle exists.

The Undead Shopkeeper
By Precious_katuch14

He once sold wares old and new,
That is, till he became an undead Tonu.
Glowing red eyes and ghostly mane,
Haunting an old stall down the lane.

Lurking in the ruins of Akhten-Ka
(Which nobody has seen because it's far)
Rubbing shoulders with Undead Citizens
And watching skulking Desert Patrolmen.

Nobody knows his past,
Nobody knows when he breathed last.
As mysterious as the ruins he lives in,
More so than the visiting spirit king.

Coltzan guards their special treasure,
Gems? Gold? The shopkeeper isn't sure.
He could probably run his business anew,
Instead of fighting the heroes of NeoQuest II.

But what is there for the undead to sell,
Nobody knows, nobody can tell.
Tonu Shopkeeper spends his days
Engaging those traversing the ruins' ways.

Raising shields to deflect sword and bow
(He's actually quite good at that, you know),
Resisting their spells, protecting his friends,
How will this battle of theirs end?

Nobody knows, except the guards of the ruined city
And the heroes later hailed for their bravery.
The Shopkeeper retreats to his beloved stall;
It was there he used to sell all.

Now the only thing he'll ever sell
Is a fight fought hard and well.
(But how could he sell something free?
Never mind, my point you can see.)

I've Been Waiting All Year!
By Chirigami

A head resting on plushie paws,
Snow soaking into fluff,
But he doesn't care,
His mind is still.

Trickles of wet run by,
Green replacing white,
And still he lies
Head resting on plushie paws.

Valentine's Day comes,
Red replacing green,
Hearts flying every which way,
His head remains flopped down.

Then he groans and stretches,
Head emerging from its rest,
As if breaking out of a long nap
And he looks around.

Smile etched on plushie face,
He opens his mouth wide and cries,
"Happy Tonu Day,
I've been waiting all year!"

And then he stands,
Blows up a balloon
With plushie lips,
This day never disappoints.
