ZAFARA DAY SPECIAL
the path to fair
Meridell is a draw-
bridge, and across
that drawbridge is a
courtyard, and in that
old courtyard is a shop,
a fine potion shop, and in
that potion shop is a kind
Zafara lass, Kayla by name,
who there brews the potions
that give her fame. "Kayla's
potions," Neopians loudly cry,
"are great magical concoctions,
this none can deny!" But maybe
she is more famous for something other than
that: for her stylish, wide-brimmed, starry hat!
The Zafara Double Agent
Under a cherry tree they meet,
Somewhere a bell rings midnight,
Leaves rustle in a soft breeze;
Everything's dark, only moonlight.
The hood pulled deep over her face,
The Zafara's features remain hidden.
A Lupe looks around nervously,
Fearing that what he does is forbidden.
She leans against the trunk of the tree,
Rough bark against her shoulder,
Appears calm on the outside,
Confident and for her age older.
The Lupe's voice trembles as he speaks,
Telling names and places and times,
Information that will be used
For the planning not only of crimes.
A word here and a word there,
It all comes out in a tumble.
The Zafara listens with interest
To the Lupe's tongue's stumble.
The gold, she has it, of course,
He will get his proper pay.
She holds out a pouch, he takes it,
His face for fear turned grey.
The Zafara watches as he walks away.
She learned important news that night
From a boy, not older than fourteen
Who is confused as to what is right.
She knows she cannot ease his mind,
Tell him what is good and right,
Because as much as she would prefer
There's no such thing as black and white.
Fair Alice's Smile
Sepia, the faded print,
Encased in gilded frame.
Etched so flawlessly a face,
Engraved, a simple name.
'Fair Alice' reads the antique script,
Sweet smile, caught in time.
When Neovia was young,
And Alice was sublime.
The loyal wife of merchant Skeith,
Three young ones blessed to she.
But what fate held in its cruel grasp,
This mother could not see.
Sweet Zafara made her home,
In times long gone to waste.
One fatal day meant her small clan
Had dire straits to face.
Her sons would fall to wicked curse,
One cursed to be alone.
Another to a beast transformed,
And cast out on his own.
Small Sophie sent into the woods,
To face an endless night.
But here in photo, caught in time,
Fair Alice smiles bright.
Edna of the Woods
Deep within the Haunted Woods,
A tower grey does stand.
Living here is Edna, witch,
Odd goods she will demand.
Looming tower, cracking stone,
Arched entrance, dark and wide.
From within comes eerie glow...
Dare you step inside?
At tower's top, you'll often find
Zafara, green in hue.
Cauldron bubbling at her side,
Holding mysterious brew.
Edna is concocting spells,
Your help is what she needs.
"You there! Fetch me dental floss,
And bag of pumpkin seeds!"
Questers hurry to obey,
Timer ticking on.
Should they fail to come on time,
The magic will be gone.
Lucky few who do succeed
Await rewards with glee.
Cauldron gurgles, Edna smiles,
Reaches for items three.
Glaring Eye Wrap, Scary Soup,
And dripping slimy sweets.
Disappointed looks are clear,
Zafara smirks, retreats.
Edna starts a brand new spell,
Consults a lengthy list.
Questing pets hear nothing more
Than cackling in the mist.
Ace Zafara Prepares to Race
pilot steps in,
across his firm face.
The Zafara is ready to
plunge into space, ready
to rise at a breathless pace.
Prepare for the take-off,
Three, two, one, for another
chance to win this race.
Feel the tension, feel the cold,
feel the rushing anticipation, as the
engines whir and the computers stir,
Blink... blip... bvooop... beep...
Wink... whip... whoosh... whee...
