Story One Hundred and Eighty Ends May 28th
"Yuck, pea soup for breakfast again," grumbled the
Acara as she sat down for breakfast. Feeling rather glum, she rested her elbow on the
table and laid her cheek against her fist. Tika absent-mindedly spooned the rather bad
tasting soup into her mouth as she stared at the morning paper laid out on the table.
Her eyes wandered to a small article in the lower right hand corner. There was a photo
off two smugglers who had been caught. Underneath, a caption read: "Smugglers caught
with shipment of new 'super attack pea'-quite possibly the strongest battle weapon ever
Mildly interested, Tika continued to read the article. It explained that although most
of the contraband had been recovered, it was suspected that some crates could still possibly
be missing. The Acara finished reading the article, and was about to flip over to the comics
page, when she noticed a small bit of red in her soup. "Ugh, I hate spices," she said
in irritation, and flicked the offending bit out of her soup towards her Puppyblew, who
would eat just about anything.
Tika jumped up as she saw her Puppyblew thrown backwards, clear into the other room. "Snarfy!"
she shouted, running to her pet's aid. Entering the living room, she heard whimpering from
under a velvet chair. Getting down to her knees, she pulled the fabric around the bottom up
to find Snarfy, who was shaking and staring fixatedly at something across the room. After picking up
her pet, and attempting to reassure it, Tika looked around on the floor to see what he had
been staring at.
All she could find was the small bit of her rejected breakfast on the floor. The Puppyblew
squirmed in her arm as she reached down to pick it up. Squinting, she noticed that the bit
of red hadn't been spice after all. In fact, it was a tiny red cape, wrapped around a pea.

...and her jaw dropped as she stared at the small pea. "Snarfy, it's a Super Attack
Pea!" she exclaimed. "A smuggled Super Attack Pea."
Snarfy cocked his head and whimpered as Tika examined the pea.
"What should I do?" Tika wondered aloud. "It's worth millions of Neopoints! If I sold it,
I could... no! I can't keep it. I have to return it."
The Puppyblew let out a small yap, as if to agree with her.
Tika glanced around the room for something to carry the Super Attack Pea in. Upon spotting
a small box, she quickly placed the pea in it and put the lid on. "Come on, Snarfy...
She opened the door of her Neohome and walked out, her Puppyblew following right behind her.
As they were about to pass the Battledome, Tika stopped in her tracks. "I could be a Battledome
champion with this weapon!" she informed Snarfy. "I'm gonna go in there. After all, it shouldn't
hurt to battle with this... just once."
Snarfy whimpered, but the Acara wasn't about to change her mind...

...before Snarfy could scamper away, Tika scooped him up and entered the Battledome.
The Battledome was pretty quiet that day, probably due to the recent war. After checking
her equipment, Tika looked around for a worthy opponent. Both experienced and inexperienced
Neopets were milling around, waiting for a challenge.
"So, who should we try this Super Attack Pea on, Snarfy?" Tika asked, though obviously not
expecting an answer. She decided to focus her attention on the most experienced pets; After
all, she had won her last two battles.
Snarfy jumped down and began sniffing around. Tika started to follow him, when the Puppyblew
suddenly stopped and sat down next to a particularly large, menacing-looking Darigan Skeith.
"Snarfy! Are you sure?" Tika whispered as she picked him up again. "Even with this new weapon,
he's still twice my size!"
"What do you want?!" The Skeith spoke so loudly, other Neopets turned to see who he was
"Uh... I, uh... well, I w-w-was looking for a uh..." Tika stammered as a small crowd began to
"Are you here to battle, or what?!" the Skeith asked forcefully, his voice booming as he towered
over the Acara.
"Well... yes, yes I am." Tika nodded slightly as she closed her paws around the box holding
the Super Attack Pea, concealing it.
The crowd parted as the Skeith grunted, turned, then lumbered toward the ring.
Tika followed the Skeith into the arena. As she stepped in, the Acara could feel an
adrenaline rush that made her paws shake slightly. With Snarfy at her side, the

..."This will be over quickly." the Skeith said as he drew his million-degree sword;
the crowd seemed to agree. Quite a few had gathered by now to see the little Acara
receive a rude awakening.
Within moments, the Skeith charged. The crowd held their breath as certain disaster
played out in front of them... but not exactly the disaster they were expecting.
With the giant Skeith closing in, Tika opened the box and threw the pea as hard as she
could, right at the Skeith. Within the blink of an eye, the Skeith had been knocked
out of the ring!
The unexpected defeat was met with a silence so complete that it was nearly tangible. Once the
crowd regained their senses, they gave Tika a hero's parade; they carried her around the arena,
while Snarfy trailed behind, yapping.
The moment they set her down, the battlers began shouting offers for the rare pea.
"I'll trade you my jade scorchstone!" a Shoryu shouted.
Tika didn't know what to do. She had been planning on taking the pea to the authorities
after the match. Besides, she didn't know how much Battledome weapons were worth, and the
offers confused her.
"I'll trade my jade and Thyora's tear!" shouted a Chia. "They are worth at
least 30 million Neopoints together! Please consider, I'll add 800,000 Neopoints too!"
The Acara eyes shot wide, and her body grew still. Thirty million Neopoints?!?
she thought, as she looked down at the miniscule pea in her hand. She had thought it would
be worth a few million at most. She knew Battledome weapons were valuable, but this was
absolutely insane! Overwhelmed by the shouted offers, she shook her head, and tried
to back out of the Battledome. "Sorry, I... I need to take it to--"
"SIXTY MILLION NEOPOINTS!" a voice boomed from behind her. The Acara's knees nearly gave
out from beneath her, as the immensity of the offer hit her. The entire Battledome fell
silent, and Tika turned around to see...

...a dark Lupe, dressed in a fancy suit. When Tika looked up, she saw that his mouth was
smiling, but his eyes were not.
When she did not respond right away, he again said, "Sixty million Neopoints! Who wouldn't
agree to that?!" The others around her nodded in agreement.
The Acara thought about what she could buy for sixty million Neopoints. A Petpet paint
for Snarfy, books, and a good chunk of the Hidden Tower, for starters. If she gave
the attack pea away, no one would even know she had had it. But if rumors spread around
the Battledome? No, don't worry, she told herself before she could conjure up any
more "if"s. You didn't do anything wrong; you just found it in your breakfast. It isn't
"Alright," she responded, with what she hoped sounded like confidence. "I'll take it."
"Good choice," the Lupe said with a smirk.
When Tika woke up the next morning, she made sure that all of the sixty million neopoints
was still in the box she had put it in. After finding that the money was still there, she went to
get the morning paper, which she planned on reading before she went shopping.
"Bank Robbed!!!" was the headline. After reading the article, Tika could feel a sinking
sensation in her stomach...
Date: 27 May
...the article read:
The National Neopian was robbed late last night, when a masked Neopet came in with a
unknown, yet extremely dangerous, weapon. Neopia Central investigators said that, based
upon speaking with witnesses, the only thing they can conclude is that it was an invisible force that
knocked out all the bank's security guards and alarms. Also, the only known facts about the burglar
were that he was alone, and also appeared to be a dark Lupe. Since it was too dark for the witnesses to
clearly see, investigators aren't exactly sure what color.
"Oh no... oh no, oh no!" Tika moaned. This was all her fault! If she had just handed over
the pea to the authorities, none of this would have happened!
Tika's eyes then lowered to see the next article, which was about the attack peas. It said
that anyone who returned one would receive sixty-one million Neopoints. "Greeeaaaattt!" Tika shouted.
Not only did she cause a major bankruptcy throughout Neopia, but she ALSO could have been even
richer than she already was... and for a GOOD reason, too!
Guilt rushed through the Acara as she ran down to the bank, where a major uproar was brewing.
Hundreds of Neopians had flooded the bank, demanding answers about their bank accounts.
As Tika pushed her way through the crowd, someone grabbed her shoulder. The Acara spun around,
just to ram right into the Lupe that had bought the pea from her! "What are you--" Tika was cut off
as he put a paw across her mouth, then beckoned her over (around a corner) away from everyone else.
"What are you doing?!" Tika yelled. It didn't really matter, though; with all the racket going on,
no one could hear her anyway. "I want my pea back! I'll return your Neopoints, but you can't--"
Again Tika stopped, but only because the Lupe was sliding to the floor, with his paws over his head.
"What?" Tika asked coldly, "Sad because the authorities are after you?! You ruined my life!
I have to live with this guilt now, and if they catch you, I'm going to be in HUGE trouble, too!"
Tika was now screaming, and angry tears streamed down her face. She, too, fell to the floor
and put her face in her hands.
"It wasn't me who did it," the Lupe said.
"What?" Tika looked up. The Lupe was now standing.
"I didn't rob the bank; I got the pea for someone else -- they ordered me to get it. After I
bought it from you, I gave the pea to...
Date: 27 May
"I-I don't believe you!" Tika said, being very brave, as she was still somewhat scared of
the Lupe. Snarfy growled in support.
"You have to believe me! He told me he was sick of being beaten up!" the Lupe explained. "Bob
said he'd give me a million Neopoints, just for buying the pea from you and giving it to him. "I
was so foolish..." he finished, placing his face in his paws with shame. "I thought maybe he
would get a good laugh from beating up other pets for a change, but I never dreamed he would
rob a bank... and dress as a Lupe to frame me!"
"So, you're telling me that I sold an awesomely powerful weapon to a disgruntled Punchbag Bob,
who is now having his revenge upon Neopia?!?" Tika exclaimed.
"It seems so..." the Lupe said, nodding his head in sorrow.
"Well, then... we've got to warn the Battledome!" she said, with great alarm in her voice.
As Tika, the Lupe, and Snarfy entered the Battledome -- there he was, Punchbag Bob,
knocking some Chia clear out of the ring.
Startled by this sudden change of events, the other Battledomers ran to the wounded Chia,
asking him if he was okay.
"Punchbag Bob!" Tika shouted. "You can NOT fight beginners with a super attack pea!"
"Why not?" he replied, an evil smile spreading across his scratched face.
"It's dangerous!" she screamed, "You could seriously hurt someone!"
Punchbag Bob's eyes narrowed. "If you want it so badly, little girl...
COME AND TAKE IT!"...
Date: 28 May
...Tika gasped after hearing Punchbag Bob's creaky voice make such a threat. "How am I
supposed to beat someone with a weapon that powerful?" she whimpered.
"Don't ask me!" the Lupe shouted. Tika looked over and saw that he had backed out of
the arena, a cowardly look all over his face.
Tika sighed, but looked down and saw that her faithful Puppyblew was still there. "Okay,
Bob!" she called. "Watch out!"
With this, Tika lunged at the punching bag. Punchbag Bob drew his arm back, then flung the
pea at the Acara. Time seemed to slow down as the pea came towards her, though it was really
flying at the speed of sound. Her heart was pounding. Somehow, Tika ducked just in time,
and the pea sped over her head.
Tika looked up happily, but she was panting tiredly from the shock. That's when she spotted
Punchbag Bob, running limply to retrieve the pea from where it had landed by the far side
of the large arena.
"Oh, great," the Acara mumbled. "C'mon, Snarfy! We should get out of here and leave this
business to a stronger pet!" However, as she looked down, Tika saw that her Petpet was not close
at her heels, as he usually was.
Tika was about to comment to herself about the disloyalty of her little Puppyblew when she
saw him darting towards the Attack Pea with extreme speed!
"Go, Snarfy! Go!" the Lupe was yelling from the sidelines, and Tika joined in. Soon, cheers
were coming from onlooking Battledomers, and even the wounded Chia was weakly voicing his
Snarfy caught up to Punchbag Bob, and they were in a neck-to-neck race for the Super Attack
Pea. Then, at last, Snarfy jumped past his stuffed foe, landing in front of the pea.
Without wasting any time, he picked up the tiny object in his mouth.
Cheers and screams erupted from the spectators as Punchbag Bob looked on dumbfoundedly.
"WAY TO GO, SNARFY! WAY TO GO!" Tika screamed, pumping her arms in the air. "Now, bring
the pea back to me!"
But then, there was a loud gulping sound that even drowned out the cheering. Within a few
seconds, all the noise stopped, and every eye was now on the Puppyblew. His mouth no longer
held the Super Attack Pea.
"Oh... no. He ate it," Tika mumbled flatly, extremely embarrassed. She put her paws to her
face to hide her blushing.
Snarfy then turned to Punchbag Bob and barked loudly. The Puppyblew crouched, then leaped
towards the villain. He head-butted Punchbag Bob with such force that Bob was sent flying
backwards with a loud moan of "Not agaaaaaaaain!" Hitting a wall of the Battledome arena,
he swiftly passed out.
More cheers and shouts burst forth as Snarfy ran back to his owner, and she gently
picked him up.
"Way to go, Tika!" the Lupe congratulated the Acara as he walked up to her. "I don't think
that pea will ever do any more harm. However, as for Snarfy--"
The dark Lupe was interrupted by a cry from somewhere in the audience: "I'll give five
million Neopoints for the world's strongest Petpet!"
"No! I'll give ten million!" someone else answered.
Tika and her new Lupe friend looked at each other. "Here we go again!" Tika said, sighing.
