So, who is Illusen? She is an earth faerie who resides in a glade in Meridell. She spends most of her days offering quests, receiving items and giving out rewards. During her time off, she nurtures the plants in her garden. This ageless faerie is well loved by all Neopians, except when they fail one of her quests.

As a quester that was unable to find an adequate guide for Illusen quests, I decided to create this page. Over time, it evolved into a desire to gather all the information about Illusen in one location.

This page is dedicated to collecting all information regarding Illusen. If you have anything to add, corrections to make of suggestions, please feel free to drop me a neomail :)

How to update
Take the part that says socks198915_0.png and change it to socks198915_1.png, then socks198915_2.png and so on and so forth.
Once you complete level 35 you can change it to either complete or fail *See example to left*

General

First you have to travel to Illusen's Glade. You can either click here or go to Explore - Meridell - Illusen's Glade Illusen's Glade.

1./ This is the Illusen's Glade quest page

2./ Near the bottom of the page you a record of your score and level. Below that is two buttons, one for accepting the quest and another to refuse.

3./ If you click accept, you will be given +-16 min to find the item (SSW, Shop Wizard, Trading Post, shops, etc... and bring it to her.

4./ You are under no obligation to finish her quests, if you pass your score and level will increase, but if you fail a quest you will have to start again from level 1 and your score will be reset.

- Your score (not your level) will also be reset to 0 at the beginning of every month.

- Illusen can give you a new quest every 12 hours. However, if you accept one of Jhudora's quests (Illusen's nemesis), you will have to wait 12 hours until she forgives you.

- The higher the Quest, the higher the rarity of the item.

- You can't complete an Illusen quest on Jhudora Day (February 4th).

Level 35

On level 35 Illusen will ask you for a rarity 99 item. As of May 12th, 2008 there are 1575 rarity 99 items. Their prices range from 1k to millions.

If the item requested is UB (Un-buyable, over 100k) you may have to neomail users to see if they want to sell to you. Here is a quick neomail message that you can fill in the blanks.
Hello I am looking for a quick sale on ________. I am willing to pay up to _______. If you are online now and would be interested please give me a neomail in the next 12 min.

It is your decision if you tell sellers you are on a Illusen Quest. Some malicious users may try to overcharge you if they know you are on a time limit. Others may help you out by taking them item out of their gallery :)

How much np should I have before I do level 35?
This is a question I get a lot, you can use this basic equation:
The price of a honey potion - how much you have spent.

Really though, it up to you to decide, the equation above is just to break even. I wouldn't never attempt level 35 with under 500-600k.

Rewards

It averages out about every 3 levels that you are awarded a item. All the items rewarded before level 35 are all buyable.

High Score Trophies

At the beginning of each month the trophies are re-set. If you want to earn a high score trophy I suggest you start at level 1. To earn the most points, you have to minimize the time between accepting the quest and completing it.

Trophy - long term: Pick times that work for you (eg 7:00am and 7:00pm or 8:00 am and 8:00pm). Be aware that as you do more quests the time that you can accept them will move back ever-so-slightly.

Trohpy - short term: Use the Item Rarity method and complete quests right after the re-set time.


Preparation:
- Make sure you have a good amount np on hand.

- Multiple windows open - one for accepting the quest and one for searching the item.

- Try to avoid things that will slow you down. (eg running to may programs, shops with music or graphics, unreliable internet connection, etc...)

- Make sure you have less than 50 items in your inventory.

Selling Hp

The first time I had completed Illusen's Glade level 35. I made the mistake of writing "I have never sold something of this value before :P" when I was chatting. Boy, did that open the gate for scammers -_- Always make sure you check the current price at the Trading Post. During a war the price can increase to a million or more. During a lull it make go down as far as 600k. If you want to trade more then 800k, you will have to use the Neopian Auction House.

She spends the day tending her gardens and offering quests to the Neopets who come to visit her. Although the items she asks for tend to become more difficult to acquire with each successful quest, she rewards her most diligent helpers with an amazing assortment of prizes. Though she is well-loved by most other faeries, Illusen harbours a hatred of a certain dark faerie that is mutual. No rivalry, it seems, is as great as the blind hatred that she and Jhudora share. Rumour has it that Illusen is the only faerie who has ever witnessed the very cautious Jhudora performing an act so evil that it could cause her to be expelled from the realm of faeries. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen, but who knows what may one day be revealed... She kneels in the soft grass, surrounded by blossoms, smiling as the scents tickle her nose. A garden sits behind her home, high on a hill overlooking Meridell. She watches as workers rebuild the castle and surrounding village. It's a slow healing, but healing nonetheless. Just then, a small Kyrii comes running up the hill, carrying something. "Illusen!" he shouts. "Lady Illusen!" He's waving a pouch over his head, and when he reaches the top of the hill, he's completely out of breath. She's kneeling before him, eyes wide and curious. "What is it, Vadellen?" He pauses, opens the bag and pulls out a small charm. "I found it," he says. Extending the charm forward, she takes it with her gentle hands. That's exactly what I needed," she whispers. Popping up from the grass, she rushes over to her garden. "Come here!" she says. "I have your reward!" Just then, a shadow passes over the glade and a chilly wind blows across the grass. The Kyrii huddles close to Illusen and she holds him. "Don't worry," she whispers, "she can't hurt you here." There is laughter from the shadow. "Hurt him? Hurt him? Trust me, sister, your little friend is of no interest to me." It's -- it's Jhu--," Vadellen begins, but Illusen gently covers his mouth. Shhh," she tells him. Then, turning back to the shadow, she asks, "What do you want?" I'm almost done," the shadow snickers. "And you've hardly begun." Illusen shakes her head. "Your spies are misinformed, sister," she says. "I'm nearly finished." Finished," the shadow says, then her voice grows darker. "Yes. You are nearly... finished." The shadow dissipates as her laughter echoes across the glade. The little Kyrii looks up at Illusen. "What did she mean?" Shaking her head, Illusen replies, "Nothing, little one." Her eyes look up at the sky, where a dark cloud lingers... growing stronger every day. "Nothing at all." * * * She makes her residence in a secret glade that can only be found by those who know its name. As Meridell's resident Faerie guardian, she fought to protect the magical kingdom against the Darigan invasion, but even her magic wasn't enough to withstand the power of Darigan's Orb. No one knows why Illusen came to Meridell, although a few have their suspicions. Some say she left voluntarily, tired of the squabbling politics of the Faerie Queen's court. Others say the Dark Faeries forced her from Faerieland (led by Jhudora, of course). Since taking up residence in Meridell, she's created a network of spies and devotees willing to help her cause. Under the glade is a cavern filled with trinkets and treasures, but as to why she's collecting them... even the wisest scholars can only guess.

How to Draw

1./ Begin by drawing Illusen's head and shoulders. If you want, use a grid to help you line them up correctly.

2./ Erase the grid and join the head to the shoulders. Lastly draw two lines for the torso.

3./ Divide Illusen's face into sections, like so.

4./ Erase your extra lines and draw two eye shapes.

5./ Draw in the top of Illusen's dress and her mouth.

6./ Draw on Illusen's hair and erase the back of her head.

7./ Give the top of her hair a little detail and draw on her arms like so. Use circles as guides for her shoulders and elbow.

8./ In this pose we have Illusen holding out her hand. Draw her hand and fingers at the end of her arm.

9./ Neaten up the edges of Illusen's hand and give her an ear.

10./ Erase your extra lines and add a little more detail to her hair and eyes.

11./ Now add her wings and a line for her belt.

12./ In this step you will add lots of little details. Illusen's pupils, plait, the top of her dress, her gloves, her nose and her eyebrows.

13./ Just a few finishing touches around her hair, plait, nose and belt, then your drawing is complete. Don't forget to give her a necklace too :)

14./ To really make your drawing look amazing try adding some colour and detail to the wings.
